To the left in my sombrero, I'm in
Oaxaca going by the name Señor Wombato.
To the right, you can see me in Mexico city, that huge Spanish cathedral
in the background use to be an Aztec temple, until the Spanish levelled
it and used it as foundations. Another interesting fact is that Mexico
City or just Mexico as the Mexicans know it by, was build on the site
of a lake. Legend has it a sacred eagle landed in the middle of the
lake on a small island and that was the sign to settle on the site.
Of course the place has changed quite a bit since then . However legend
or no legend I was still keeping my eyes well and truly peeled for any
eagles who might mistake me for something tasty! On the left you can see me at one of the country's famous historical sites and one of the Mayan's crowning achievements, Chichen Itza. This and hundreds of other pyramids and ruined cites can be found in Mexico and the rest of Central America.
One of the things I saved from my Mexico trip was a bus ticket. I scanned
a picture of it on my return, (it's at the bottom of this page). Please
note the name on the ticket for all you doubters!
Next
stop the United States, the big apple and an even bigger hole. A photo
stop in California at the
HOLLYWOOD sign, at
lady liberty and the
Grand Canyon completed my
tour of the Americas.
Despite having travelled widely throughout this continent often considered dangerous, I never once feel scared, that is until I went to New York City and had my photo taken at the top of the Empire State building (left), one gust of wind and my travelling days would have been over for good.
